Heart and blood vessels

Covid attacks the heart and cardiovascular (circulatory) system, which supplies your body’s organs with oxygen and nutrients. The infection’s impact on blood-clotting is one of the leading theories about how Long Covid causes lasting damage and chronic illness, which can include problems with heartbeat, blood oxygen levels, and blood pressure.

Some of those most severely incapacitated by Long Covid struggle with a syndrome called “POTS,” which can cause dizziness, fainting, heart palpitations, difficulty thinking and concentrating, fatigue, blurry vision, tremors, and nausea.

Doctors are already seeing dramatic increases in the frequency of coronary disease, heart attack, heart failure, and stroke — even in younger and previously healthy adults.
