Lungs
Shortness of breath, chest pain or “tightness,” and an inability to return to previous levels of physical activity are all common not only during the initial Covid infection, but also for those suffering from Long Covid. Diagnostic tests show that the body’s ability to use oxygen during exercise (and even while going about daily activities) can be severely compromised after Covid, leading to lightheadedness, loss of consciousness, and the associated risk of injury.
Some affected by Long Covid suffer from pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure of the lungs) and other complications that further prevent the resumption of daily life, while many others have died from blood clots in the lungs — the risk of which increases enormously after Covid.
